Insurance

Companies implementing transport and forwarding activities are liable for loss, shortage, damage (impairment) of the client consignment. However, the freight forwarder is liable to the client under the same rules by which the corresponding transporter is liable to him. So, with transport in international traffic the liability of the transporter is limited by international conventions:
  • For air transport – amount of approximately 20 Euros for kg of consignment;
  • For road transport approximately 10 Euros for kg of consignment;
  • For sea transport approximately 3 USD for kg of consignment.

To ensure the financial sustainability of transport operators, liability insurance of the transporter and forwarders is applied. Often such insurance is compulsory. But forwarding client should clearly understand that this insurance first of all protects the transporter and is not intended to help the owner of the goods. Moreover, transporter is relieved of liability if the loss, shortage, damage of the consignment occurred due to circumstances that he could not foresee, prevent and the resolution of which did not depended on it.
Besides reimbursement from the transporter is often stretched out for many months. Therefore, in addition to the insurance of its liability and requirements for insurance of liability of transporter-partners, SO Logistics independently insures shipments of its clients for their full value. Partner of SO Logistics for insurance is the insurance group "Kapital", which is the leader by the volume of insured goods in Russia.

Long-standing partnership with OJSC "Kapital Insurance", allows to reduce the duration of processing of claims on insurance cases. Generally, the term of inquiry processing takes no more than 3 weeks. Immediately after receiving a positive response from the insurance company, without waiting for receipt of insurance proceeds, SO Logistics compensates the client with 100% of the insurance sum at own expense. As a result, term of insurance reimbursement of the client rarely exceeds more than 1 month.
